Evangelism, Innovation, and the Scriptures

Posted by ericmichaelbryant in Uncategorized at 1:50 pm | Permanent Link

A new community is forming….

There is so much we have yet to determine*, but this will be a community of:

- Friends, pioneers, innovators and catalysts who want to dream and work for the Gospel together rather than alone.
- Leaders, entrepreneurs, pastors, misfits, and artists who share a high view of Scripture and a radical commitment to evangelism while being faithfully committed to what is expressed in the Lausanne Covenant.
- Missionally-minded people from different backgrounds who use different methods in different cultural contexts but share the same experimental passion and risk-taking heart for serving, loving, and helping people connect to God through Jesus.

Losing Leadership

Posted by ericmichaelbryant in Uncategorized at 10:31 pm | Permanent Link

LOSING LEADERSHIP At one point in their history, God was so upset with the people of Israel that he brought radical punishment in order to bring them back to Himself. What was this radical punishment? God was going to take away the most essential elements of life - food, water, and leadership.”See now, the Lord Almighty is about to take from Jersualem and Judah both supply and support: all supplies of food and all supplies of water, the hero and warrior, the judge and prophet, the soothsayer and elder, the captain of fifty and man of rank, the counselor, skilled craftsman and clever enchanter.” Isaiah 3:1-3Shocking, huh?!People want to be well fed and well led. Without effective leadership chaos ensues, people are oppressed, conflict and corruption emerge (see Isaiah 3:4-5). Of course, we can all list examples of times when we experienced the abuses of poor or even ungodly leadership, but have you ever experienced God-inspiring leadership? What made this leader so special and effective? If God’s punishment includes the removal of leadership, it seems to me that we can say God’s blessing means the installation of effective leadership.Where can we step up to lead and bring blessing to others needing and wanting (perhaps even praying) for someone to follow? Finally, of the types of leaders listed in Isaiah 3, which type of leader is most commmon in our churches or in the business world?

Kona, Hawaii Adventures

Posted by ericmichaelbryant in Uncategorized at 10:30 pm | Permanent Link

Our summer ended with a fantastic trip to the Big Island of Hawaii! We had a great time in Kona swimming, reading, hiking, eating (especially kalua pork and shaved ice), snorkeling, volcano watching, stargazing, spending time with our friends at Cornerstone, and relaxing in general. Here are some of the best pics (of the 300 we took):hawaii-swim-kids-cropped.JPGhawaii-me-deb.JPGhawaii-deb-caleb-trevi.JPGhawaii-lava-home-sale.JPGhawaii-volcano-and-tornado.JPGhawaii-volcano-and-family.JPGhawaii-hot-tub-kids.JPG

Alltop: All the Top Sites!

Posted by ericmichaelbryant in Uncategorized at 4:04 pm | Permanent Link

Featured in Alltop

I was surprised to find out I was included in an incredibly cool new website called Alltop, all the top stories

Here’s their description:

“We help you explore your passions by collecting stories from “all the top” sites on the web. We’ve grouped these collections — “aggregations” — into individual Alltop sites based on topics such as environment, photography, science, gaming, sports, politics, automobiles, and Macintosh. At each Alltop site, we display the headlines of the latest stories from dozens of sites and blogs. You can think of an Alltop site as a “digital magazine rack” of the Internet.”

Alltop: Modern Church
(I am the ninth one down on the left just above Catalyst).

I look forward to exploring the other Alltop sites about Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Books, Music, News, Mixed Martial Arts, and Humor.
